meadowlark

The daffodils are out and the blossoms are just starting to show. Yesterday, after the rain, we took the boys to Meadowlark for a run around.

artwork

Cameron and Jamie have already been busy at school this week.

Cameron is doing the letter X so this is his x-ray picture.  Tomorrow he's taking in a pirate treasure map with "x" marks the spot - it was a great suggestion from Christina...always good to have other mum's to help out!Jamie is doing the letter N and O. Here is his Noah's ark and rainbow. He was so happy with the rainbow and that he knew about Noah.

Meet Daisy

Traveling can be a very lonely experience and you can be forced to go to some extraordinary lengths for a little companionship. Meet Daisy. She is a grandmother and a little taller than me but wow, what a kisser!

And then a lovely portrait of me by Jamie....
Cameron made a watch with velcro so he could wear it...the face is the size of a dessert plate but that's cool for the kids.....

dreams

We normally speak about dreams in the morning. Cameron and Jamie have some good dream stories to share when they get up.  Cameron strongly remembers one about a train running over his granny!  Perhaps that was a nightmare?  Jamie often talks about his shark dream.

But this morning's discussion with Jamie was different. Here is our conversation from this morning.

Me: Did you have any dreams last night Jamie?
Jamie: No. I've run out of dreams.
Me: Jamie, you don't run out of dreams. Don't worry, you don't have to have them every night. You'll have more dreams again.
Jamie: Maybe Santa could bring me some?
Me: Santa brings presents at Christmas but he doesn't bring dreams.
Jamie: Ohhhhh....
Me: Maybe the Sandman could bring you some dreams?
Jamie: WOW...the Sandman!

I wonder what will happen tomorrow morning?! What have I started?

batman!

oh yeah...the whole house went crazy...the boys went wild...their new crocs from Granny have arrived....and they had to wear them this afternoon and show everyone they met -- happy, happy, happy!

HAPPY FEET!

i'm not sleepy

Jamie says he doesn't need to nap anymore. So when this happens at 5pm I have to disagree with him.

toe nails

For some reason this was our conversation on the way to school.

Cameron: Mummy, I want to grow my toe nail so it goes all the way around the world. That's far.
Me: Yuck!
Cameron: People could duck under it.
Me: Yuck!
Jamie: Me too.

They're ganging up on me!

lidder

Every morning we have this routine with Jamie when he gets up. He picks out a cup - at the moment it *has* to be the Lightening McQueen cup - and I help him pour his milk and he puts it in the microwave and he presses the right buttons and I get it out for him and I put on the cup lid. There are lots of steps that he wants to do on his own.  There is a new one now - he has decided he is the "lidder". That is the person who takes the lid off the cup and the lid off the milk.  He told me "I'm the lidder but you can help me pour."  Ahh...the independence of an almost 3 year old.

ladybug

Ladybug/ladybird, tomato/tomAto....

Jamie loves his hat. (You can't really see but there are antenae made out of pipe cleaners with black hearts on the end that bob about as he walks...so funny!)

artwork and news from school

This week Cameron has been working on the letter N which for some reason he thinks is hard work. He doesn't like the worksheets. He's told me that every day after school this week. But today for show and tell I gave him a few pictures of Nemo and some colouring pages from the Disney site to take to school so I think that made him happier about the letter N.

He also made a necklace out of noodles ... so of course Jamie had to have one too. We made it this morning before school.

Silly faces all round for photos now!

the park at last

The weather has been really cold here but recently it has started to warm up and it was in the 60s this afternoon.  We are so happy to be back at the park.  Jamie is growing up so quickly and loves being on the big boy swings and chasing Cameron around the slides.  The boys like to come down the slides together and I chase them because I'm the slide troll - how kind of them!  Cameron has named all the parks based on the colour of the play equipment so today we were at big blue park with the school bus.  Cameron is determined to go on the monkey bars but can't quite do it yet...but he keeps trying and I'm sure he'll make it soon.

On the way home he reminded me that when he grows up to be a daddy he is going to marry Ruby, as long as it is ok with Dave and Jean, because he knows he has to ask Dave first.
This week Cameron is doing the letter N at school and Jamie is doing K and L....artwork to follow at the end of the week.

hard day

I picked up Cameron and Jamie from school today and they both seemed a little tired. Cameron said, "mummy, can I have some milk when we get home? I've had a hard day at school today."  Sure, just wait until you get to kindergarten kid!  Just goes to show that it's all relative.  Apparently learning about the letter N this week is a little challenging!

reduce, reuse, recycle

I'm taking a moment here. This is a photo of bags of baby and kids clothes in our living room. I'm donating them all this afternoon to a local church.  I'm taking Cameron and Jamie with me because we've talked about giving these clothes away to other people who need them.  I had a trip down memory lane as I sorted through everything. Baby clothes are so tiny!

Toys will be one of our next projects but they seem a little more difficult to donate due to all sorts of regulations around paint on toys etc. Any ideas out there?

snow day 2

We had at least 7 inches of snow yesterday and the boys loved it. Well, Cameron seemed to love it a lot more than Jamie but I think that was because Jamie was finding it difficult to walk in the snow since he's smaller and he was all bundled up in his snow gear.

The boys helped Grant shovel our driveway.

Jamie put down the salt....
Cameron, Jamie and Grant in the snow....Cameron does a cheesy grin but you can tell he's having fun.Jamie wasn't really sure how much fun the snow could be....

snow day

Snow day!

bouncing and parties

We did a little bouncing with Carys this weekend - she is Cameron's friend from football. She's looking lovely in pink next to the boys.

And we also had fun with Ruby who just turned six - she's lost her front two top teeth!
And we had fun with Lucas - Elliot's little brother - who just turned 2 and is as big as Jamie. I think he's going to be tall like his Grandpy.

What a fun party weekend!
