The next Franz Klammer

Cameron went skiing for the first time yesterday and he loved it. He now thinks he is a great skier, although he also does not yet feel the need to learn how to stop. He was also very impatient in the queues for the lifts, telling everyone else to hurry up. And most importantly the only time he cried was when I told him we had to go home. After 4 hours he still wanted one more run. That's my boy.

Construction boys

Today we had an adventure. We went with Laura into the city to the Construction museum. We met up with Anna and boys and Aoife and boys. It was a big group of toddler boys and mums running around. Thank goodness we had Laura around to help us!

Cousin Laura Visiting

Laura is visiting and the boys love her and so does Bear.

Dressing up is fun, especially when you can be Superboy and Monkeyboy.

Big Boy Steps

Cameron is very excited to have done his first pee pee on the potty (albeit after two accidents). He was eventually able to get his hands on the toy motorbike that has been in the bathroom for over 2 months now. Cameron now keeps saying "I did a pee pee in the potty for the first time". We are now waiting for Mummy to tell her the good news.

Potty training

This weekend is when Cameron becomes potty trained. Cameron does not know it yet and is doing his best to resist but we are persevering. So far no success other than Cameron reluctantly sitting on the potty every 30 minutes. He is starting to get the idea that resistance is futile - we hope. That said his only pee this morning was while he was standing at the window. No one said this would not be messy. We even missed his soccer training to keep things simple. It is going to be a long weekend.

catching snowflakes

Cameron tries to catch a snowflake on his tongue.

Snowball fight!

snow time!

Pull me Cameron!

Jamie enjoyed the ride in his slide.

Snow storm

This morning the snow came down with big white flakes. We have about 3 inches of snow now and we are about to head out into the garden to play - yeah!

Wobbly Chair

Today was our first emergency room visit with the boys. Cameron was wobbling on his chair at school, he fell off and bumped his face on the table in front of him. He has a very small cut on his face and the school thought I should take him to the emergency room to get it checked out.
So we drove back to Reston to the local Emergency Care Center and Cameron was a very brave boy and he told the doctors and nurses all about his chair and table accident. They decided not to put stitches in his face but he might get a little scar - just to add character to his handsome face!
Jamie slept through the whole thing in the stroller.
The funniest moment came from a classic Cameron comment of the day when we were leaving the Emergency Care Center. The nurse told him to be more careful with chairs in the future. Cameron said he would be more careful. Then he told the nurse that we have one white cat called Bear. "He doesn't have a willy because he's a cat," stated Cameron. How that relates to Cameron's face cut I'm not really sure....only in the wandering mind of a toddler!

Cameron's new bed

There was so much excitement this afternoon at the Elliott house. Cameron's new "really big boy" bed arrived. It has ladders at one end, a slide at the other and a tent underneath. We rushed out to buy a mattress this evening and now we are hoping that Cameron sleeps all night and doesn't wake up for a slide at some point!

What better way to celebrate a new bed
for big brother than with an ice cream cone!

On another note...classic comment of the day from Cameron. "Some people have a bad hair day but today I had a bad poo and pee-pee day."

Monster pudding

Cameron loves Monster Pudding. We first discovered Monster Pudding on Cameron's favourite show "Little Bear". Little Bear made monster pudding and of course, if Little Bear had Monster Pudding then Cameron wants some too. Can we having Monster Pudding? Of course! We had Monster Pudding this evening - it is delicious - and granny loved it too when she was here. So when Cameron had finished his dinner this evening and polished off his bowl of Monster Pudding, mummy said "Well done Cameron. You ate all your dinner." Cameron said, "At least Granny wasn't here" (to try to steal it from me!)

Warm winter walk at Meadowlark

Today was strangely warm for a January day so we took advantage of the lovely weather and headed over to Meadowlark Botantical Gardens. Cameron and Jamie love walking there because they can run around without any restrictions. We did the full circuit which includes a walk in the woods that opens onto the two lakes with geese. We fed the fish in the big lake and said hello to lots of other people out walking. One lady told us about a blue heron in another pond so Jamie took her hand and we all walked quietly over and to see the heron fishing. Cameron and Jamie both chose walking sticks for their adventures. Sometimes they were adventurers in the jungle, or pirates at sea and other times they were fighting off big birds. It was quite an adventure!

Granny Tina bakes

It doesn't happen very often but here is photographic evidence of Granny Tina making cupcakes!

A cut above

Daddy took Cameron for a haircut much to the displeasure of Mummy and Granny. Gone are the curls (and the birds nest they regularly became) but the 'bowl cut' fringe unfortunately added to the matriarchal annoyance and did not help Daddy's well intentioned position.

Even Jamie was shocked when he saw it. "What have you done to Cameron's beautiful curls Daddy?"

Back to school

Cameron and Jamie went back to school this week after the Christmas break. They were both so happy to be back at school with their teachers and friends. Jamie rushed into his classroom, handed over his lunchbag to Ms.Maria and went off to play on the climbing equipment. Cameron ran over to his teacher, Ms.Elena, and gave her such a big hug it almost knocked her over. School rocks!

Snooze

Just when you think a 3-year-old will never nap....

Cookies!

Cameron decided to make his own cookies! Granny was on hand to minimize the mess. Jamie sat patiently waiting for the cookies to be ready to eat.

The start of a new year

New Year's Day - a visit to Great Falls Park. Cameron took this photo of the falls with his new camera from Santa.

And here are Cameron and Jamie in their new cart from Granpa George and Granma Allison.

Christmas at the Elliotts

Christmas continues to be a bigger event each year for our little family with Cameron now well and truly caught up in the excitement. Jamie is just feeding off Cameron and so is just as excitable except he does not know why. As you can see they both had a wonderful Christmas and would also like to use the blog to thank Santa for being so generous this year. The boys getting excited about Christmas
